In the year 2024, Mpala Research Institute in its mission to explore solutions to current and emerging challenges in the ecosystem contracted Center for Alternative Technologies to design and install a solar plant to serve the entire institute with an aim of switching off the generators which had become so costly to maintain.
We designed a 178kWp solar system with 462kWh BYD ESS. The Research institute now enjoys a zero dependance on the generator as they harvest renewable energy from the strong sun in the Laikipia environs.
